CILEx Graduate Fast Track Diploma

February 28, 2017

Many people ask ‘what is the benefit in doing the CILEx Graduate Fast Track Diploma’? Hopefully the information included here will make things a little clearer for you.

The CILEx Graduate Fast-track Diploma (GFTD) is for law graduates and for those people who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and now wish to qualify as lawyers without undertaking the expensive Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC).

Another massive advantage is that there is no requirement to secure a training contract or pupillage when pursuing the CILEx route to qualification. Graduates qualify as Chartered Legal Executive lawyers when opting for this hugely beneficial alternative.

Chartered Legal Executive lawyers are virtually on a par with solicitors and can now become judges, coroners, advocates and partners in law firms. You can upgrade from CILEx Associate Member to CILEx Graduate Member when you successfully complete the GFTD and this is of great benefit your employer who can charge you out at a higher fee-earner rate.

Courses can be studied part time or via distance or blended learning and we are happy to discuss all of the options with you. Whichever option you decide on, you are left free to work in legal practice and gain the necessary qualifying employment to becoming a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer and a CILEx Fellow.

The Graduate Fast-track Diploma is available to those people who have achieved their law degree or GDL within the last seven years.

So what are the main benefits then?
• no training contract or pupillage required
• a very accessible route to qualifying as a lawyer
• very affordable and value for money. Instalment options available
• study part time or via distance or blended learning. Your geographical location is not a
problem
• earn as you learn and avoid further student debt
• instant CILEx Associate membership
• regulated by a professional body

How to study
There are various start dates for conventional classes and distance/blended learning can begin anytime during the year

What do I have to study?
The qualification is made up of two CILEx Level 6 Practice subjects (one of which must relate to a subject you studied within your law degree or GDL), and the CILEx Level 6 Client Care Skills unit.
